Stormalong Bay at Walt Disney World's Yacht and Beach Club Resort

A day spent at Stormalong Bay at Walt Disney World's Yacht and Beach Club Resort allows both children and adults to splash and slide their day away without ever having to leave the comfort of their resort. Stormalong Bay is a 3+ acre, 750,000 gallon pool area that features 2 water slides, a lazy river, a sand bottom pool and even an elevated tanning deck that leaves you feeling as if you have a water park right at your resort.

Upon arrival you will be greeted at one of the entrances of Stormalong Bay by a Cast Member who will scan your MagicBand or key to the world card, or if you are opting to use your phone they will ask you for the name of the guest the resort reservation is under, once they verify that you are a guest at either the Yacht or Beach Club you will be issued a bracelet that gives you access to Stormalong Bay for the day. Don’t worry about bringing your own towels, there are plenty of different stands to grab fresh towels from to use during your time at the pool, there are also several stands with life jackets of all different sizes.

The Flying Jib sits on the edge of Crescent Lake, this is a 230 foot long, 150 foot tall water slide that is the tallest waterslide at any Walt Disney World Resort. You will enter the Shipwreck Pool area and climb the mast of a wrecked ship up a spiral staircase to the top of the Flying Jib where you will be greeted by a Cast Member who will let you know when it is your turn to go down the slide, the slide will jet you out into the Bubblin’ Bay area of the main sand bottom pool. Although there aren’t height requirements for this slide, riders are required to go down the slide on their own and may not be sitting on another rider's lap. There are plenty of lounge chairs in the Bubblin’ Bay area of the pool and it's a great spot to relax while keeping an eye on your Flying Jib riders.

For our less adventurous guests that still want to enjoy a small waterslide,  there is a secondary junior slide that is also in the Shipwreck Pool area that has its own lifeguard. The Shipwreck Pool area is a small enclosed wading pool on the edge of Crescent Lake which is a great option for parents who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main pool area and still have access to a small slide, while taking in the views of the beautiful lake, you can even see the Boardwalk from here.

If relaxing is more your speed Stormalong Bay features a lazy river that you can lounge in a clear inner tube that is provided by the resort while the light current takes you around the circular river. The lazy river is the deepest section of the pool and in its deepest portion is 8 feet deep and has multiple entrances allowing you to get in and out whenever you would like. There is minimal seating around this section of this pool, to allow for life guards to keep a close watch on the lounging guests.

On the backside of the Lazy River you will find the quick service location Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar and Grill where you can enjoy some of their delicious cocktails such as a Category 5 or a Storm Chaser.  This is also where there is a drink refill station for Resort Refillable mugs. Hurricane Hanna’s also has a great selection of sandwiches and salads along with Chicken Tenders, Hot dogs and other kid friendly options. These food offerings are available until 10pm, but the bar itself stays open until 11. If you aren’t quite up for leaving your lounge chair to order at the bar you can order both drinks and food from a waitress/waiter that services the pool area and they will bring everything right to you at your lounge chair or table.

For our smallest travelers Stormalong Bay features a sand bottomed wading pool that has plenty of seating around it. The wading section of the sand bottom pool features certain portions that are zero entry and a sand dune that divides the wading section of the pool. The large sand dune allows children to dig and build sandcastles right there at the pool. Make sure you stop by the Market at Ale and Compass or Beach Club Marketplace to pick up a pack of sand toys to play with or consider packing your own from home.

There is no shortage of entertainment when it comes to Stormalong Bay. Every afternoon (weather permitting) there are cast member lead activities. These activities vary depending on the day, and range from Trivia to Dance Parties, contests that involve diving for different objects at the bottom of the pool, putting a new spin on building our friend Mr. Potato Head and even challenging the cast members on their Disney Knowledge. There are also different activities that you can purchase such as tie dying shirts and sand art. If sports are more your speed there is a Volleyball net inside of the pool at Storm Along Bay that you can borrow a volleyball for to challenge your friends or family.

When you are ready to take a break from swimming and playing in the pool Stormalong Bay features 3 different whirlpool spas, one of which is near the Bubblin Bay section of the pool, while the other two are close to the Sand Dunes section of the pool. There is also an Elevated Tanning Deck for guests who would like to relax and soak up the sun without having to outrun the shade of the trees throughout the day.

To the far side of the Sand Dune section of the pool there are several Cabanas that are available to rent for the day. Cabanas are a great luxurious edition to your day at Stormalong Bay and provide the perfect furnished and shaded oasis. When renting a cabana you will receive your own personal dedicated cast member, cocktail service, a television, a charging station and even a fully stocked mini refrigerator with soda, water and fruit. One of our travel experts will be more than happy to reserve this for you in advance.
