The most popular question that our travel agents get from clients is, “Is the dining plan worth it?” Boy, do we have good news for you! If you have an appetite, the dining plan will save you money on your next vacation! The best part is, it takes out all of the “guesswork” when it comes to planning your spending budget for your trip because most of your meals are included!
The most valuable and used item from the Quick Service Dining Plan is easily the resort refillable mug! Each guest with a dining plan will receive one of these mugs that can be used during their entire length of stay! These can be filled time and time again during your trip at any Walt Disney World resort with soda, coffee, tea, lemonade, Powerade, and so much more! Some resorts even have Coke Freestyle machines that you can use them with! The only “limit” is that you have to wait 5 minutes between refills! Think about all of the money you’re saving on a morning cup of coffee alone on a weeklong vacation! One cup of coffee alone is $3.79. We highly recommend keeping your mug with you to easily refill anytime you’re near a resort quick service location!
Each guest will receive one snack credit per night of their stay to use on a qualifying snack either in the parks at Disney Springs or even at a resort. Pay attention to the posted menus in the park and in the My Disney Experience app. There will be a small Dining Plan logo next to each eligible snack! Of course, Mickey Pretzels and Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars are snack credits, but believe it or not, your snack credit can go so much further! Most EPCOT festival food items are a single snack credit! That means you could order steak, seafood, and so much more at a festival booth! Some of those portions are huge and could double as a meal! Another great use of a snack credit is Starbucks in the parks! Stop by the Main Street Bakery, Connections Cafe, The Trolley Car Cafe, or Creature Comforts and order your favorite Starbucks drink, make it a venti and add some extra shots because it’s a snack credit!
On to the quick service meal credits. Each night of stay, each eligible guest will receive 2 quick service meals to use! Each quick service meal comes with an entree and a beverage. The beverage can be substituted for a beer, wine, or cocktail for all guests who are over the age of 21. This is a great way to maximize your meal credit; adult beverages in Walt Disney World can easily run upward of $15. These meal credits can be used at most quick-service restaurants in the parks, Disney Springs, and at Walt Disney World resorts. Menus will note what items the dining plan can be used on along with the My Disney Experience app. You can even use the My Disney Experience app to mobile order your quick service meal! If you’re ordering an adult beverage in the My Disney Experience app with your dining plan, you will have to check a box that says that you are over 21 years old and will also have to produce a valid ID upon picking up your meal and beverage.
Some of the best shareable meals at Walt Disney World can also be purchased with a quick service dining credit. Regal Eagle and Flame Tree Barbecue entrees are notoriously large, and more food than one person can normally eat, but that doesn’t stop them from being a meal credit! We highly recommend ordering an order of ribs that comes with a side and a beverage if you’d like something to share or even the sampler at Flame Tree Barbecue that comes with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and a side dish! Add on an adult beverage and that's upwards of a $30 meal that was just a snack credit! That’s more than half of what you spent on the meal plan for the day in just one meal!
To add on the dining plan to your next Walt Disney World vacation, let your travel agent know, and they’ll be more than happy to help set that up for you!
