Embrace the fun of Mardi Gras all year round at Port Orleans French Quarter, located just upstream on the Sassagoula River from Disney Springs. Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest of the Moderate Resorts making every resort room feel like a preferred location to all the excitement that the resort has to offer.
Rooms
Port Orleans French Quarter has seven separate three story buildings to accommodate guests. All of the buildings have elevators, but being that this is the smallest moderate resort every building is a convenient walkable distance to Port Orleans Square that is home to the lobby and dining. Guest rooms accommodate up to 4 adults with 2 queen size beds, or there is the option for a room with a single king size bed that sleeps up to 2 adults. When choosing a room with two queen beds guests have the choice of a garden view room, a river view room overlooking the Sassagoula River, a pool view room that overlooks the Doubloon Lagoon Pool and its surrounding courtyard and a standard room that overlooks additional beautifully manicured parts of the resort. A king room comes with a wide variety of possibilities of where your room will be located (similar to the two queen size bed rooms), but the room location will be assigned upon check in.
Pool
The Doubloon Lagoon Pool is located on the shore of the Sassagoula River where guests are greeted by an Alligator Band that sprays water. Make a splash and take a ride down the back of Scales the 51 foot long blue sea serpent slide. This is where guests can participate in pool party activities led by cast members. Our young travelers under 48 inches tall will enjoy a water play area next to the Doubloon Lagoon Pool that features slides, water cannons and fountains to splash the day away in. Adults can indulge in a whirlpool spa and Mardi Grogs poolside bar.
Dining
Everyday is Fat Tuesday at Port Orleans French Quarter with endless delicious cajun and creole inspired dishes and even Mickey shaped Beignets. Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory is located in Port Orleans Square and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, they even allow guests to mobile order ahead of time. The lunch and dinner menu boasts cajun favorites like gumbo, jambalaya and shrimp and grits that make New Orleans proud. This is also where guests can refill their resort refillable mugs. Mardi Grogs is the perfect poolside oasis to enjoy sandwiches, salads, and some resort exclusive cocktails like the Nola Cola and some Gata- Melon Juice that even come in a souvenir hurricane glass. Scat Cat’s Club Cafe is home to the Mickey Beignet, make sure you shake them before you dig in…just trust us! Scat Cat’s Club Lounge is a great place to relax and enjoy some New Orleans inspired Jazz, and yes you can also get Beignets here to enjoy with your drinks! They even have beignets that can be jazzed up with liquer for a special treat.
Recreation
Cajun Campfires are located between building 5 and building 6 everynight from 5:30 to 6:30PM where guests can roast complimentary marshmallows. Cajun Campfires are followed by a Movie Under the Stars on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the front desk will have an up to date list of what Disney movie is being played each night. Young travelers who may have a little bit of extra energy to burn off will love climbing and sliding at the playground located across from the Doubloon Lagoon. The South Quarter Games is located in the Mint building and is the resort's arcade, with plenty of fun for the whole family that features video games, pinball and even air hockey.
Transportation
Board a water taxi and head downstream on the Sassagoula River for a quick ride to Disney Springs to enjoy some shopping, entertainment and tons of additional dining options. Guests traveling with a stroller will have to fold and stow all strollers upon boarding their water taxi. When departing Disney Springs look for the water taxi with the purple flag to head back to Port Orleans French Quarter. Port Orleans French Quarter provides bus transportation to all four parks and the resort only has one bus stop at Port Orleans Square that houses the resorts lobby and dining. However keep in mind that most often this is a shared bus between Port Orleans French Quarter and its sister resort Port Orleans Riverside, so there may be additional stops made. For guests who are looking for a quick and efficient way to the parks, Minnie Van service is available through the Lyft app.
Fitness
While Port Orleans French Quarter doesn’t have a fitness center, guests who want to exercise during their stay can take advantage of the one mile jogging path along the Sassagoula River. Guests are also encouraged to take advantage of Port Orleans French Quarters sister resort Port Orleans Riverside’s amenities and recreational activities.
