Fort Wilderness is a great place to escape to on a park free day, even if you are staying at another resort. There are so many different activities to participate in and plenty of delicious places to enjoy a meal in the Wilderness. Let your favorite Disney characters inspire you, you never know who you may bump into there!
Fort Wilderness Archery
Channel your inner Merida and participate in the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience. Guests will be placed in small intimate groups to learn about archery. Groups will have a maximum of 10 people and all guests must be at least 7 years old to participate. Each session is 75 minutes long and costs $45 per person. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling 407-WDW-PLAY or by letting your travel expert know that you are interested.
Tri Circle D Ranch
Tri Circle D Ranch is one of the best kept hidden gems in Disney! They have pony rides, trail rides and even carriage/ wagon rides. Over 90 horses call Tri Circle D Ranch their home and they are some of the happiest horses and ponies on earth, and yes this is where Cinderella's Ponies live! Guests who are 2 years old or older that weigh less than 80 pounds are invited to take pony rides. Pony rides are done on a walk up basis at the stable near Pioneer Hall and costs $8 per person. Trail rides can also be done on a walk up basis, but guests are highly encouraged to reserve a trail ride online. Guests must be 9 years or older and over 48 inches, it costs $55 per person for a 45 minute trail ride. Check in for trail rides is located in the building at the front of Fort Wilderness. All guests(or their parent/legal guardian) must sign a waiver prior to the ride and complimentary helmets are required regardless of the rider's age. Horse Drawn Carriage Rides are a great way to experience the scenic trails of the Fort Wilderness grounds. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be booked up to 60 days in advance, but may be available day of. Carriage rides are 25 minutes long and can accommodate either four adults or two adults and three children and cost $55. The check in location for Carriage Rides is near Crockett’s Tavern.
The Bike Barn
The Bike Barn has more than just bikes! While guests can rent surrey bikes and bicycles for $9 to $20 they also have canoes and kayaks that are available for rent. The Bike Barn is located in the Meadow Recreational area and is open daily from 9AM to 5PM. Canoes and Kayaks are available to rent same day for $13 per hour and require guests to be 18 years or older to rent, however parents can sign a consent waiver for children 12 and over to participate. Complimentary life jackets are available and MUST be worn at all times.
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
Enjoy some frontier family fun at Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. This dinner show has three different seatings nightly and serves up some finger licking good comfort food and we can’t forget about the all you care to enjoy draft beer, sangria and wine for guests who are over the age of 21. Dinner is served family style to your table and skillets and buckets are packed with fried chicken,ribs, salad, beans, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. Make sure that you are saving room for the grand finale, some delicious strawberry shortcake. While eating dinner you’ll enjoy singing, dancing and even some funny jokes. To get to Pioneer Hall guests will have to take the Fort Wilderness internal bus to arrive at their destination, so make sure to leave some extra travel time, we suggest at least a 30 minute buffer once you arrive at the resort to get over to Pioneer Hall. Guests are required to pay at the time of booking this dinner show, the cost of an adult starts at $66 and goes up to $74 while a child starts at $39 going up to $44 depending on your seating preference.
Wilderness Back Trail Adventure
Go wild on 2 wheels on your next trip to Fort Wilderness on the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure. Make sure to wear comfortable, closed toe shoes with backs. (sorry putting your crocs into 4 wheel drive won’t count for this experience) Guests who are 16 or older can embark on this 2 hour outdoor Segway X2 tour throughout the trails of Fort Wilderness, don’t worry they won’t just throw you to the wolves. Prior to taking off on this wilderness adventure guests will attend a 30 minute indoor training to build their confidence before heading out on their guided adventure. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made online, or let your travel expert know that you are interested. This experience is only available Tuesdays through Saturdays and costs $90 per participant.
Arcades
Guests can purchase Arcade reloadable game cards to play at two different arcades at Fort Wilderness. Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Arcade is located near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area and has plenty of classic and contemporary arcade games the whole family can enjoy. Davy Crockett’s Wilderness Arcade is located near Pioneer Hall and has a HUGE selection of traditional pinball games and video games.
