Just a quick 10 minute boat ride from Magic Kingdom is the “Great Outdoors” right in
the heart of Walt Disney World. Fort Wilderness Resort gives guests the opportunity to go camping or enjoy some “glamping” in a fully furnished cabin. Regardless of if you're camping in a tent, RV or camper or booking a cabin, guests are welcome to bring up to 2 dogs with them on their vacation, however a $50 per dog fee is charged nightly.
Transportation
Fort Wilderness has an inner bus loop to make getting around the resort's 750 acres a breeze for guests. You may even find some wildlife friends on your stay, so keep an eye out for deer, armadillos, ducks and rabbits, who roam the heavily wooded area from time to time. To make life a little bit easier on your next wilderness adventure, you can reserve a golf cart to easily explore the property! Guests 18 and older with a valid driver's license can rent 4 seater golf carts from the Reception Outpost for $63 to $79 a day. Pick up is at 1PM and golf carts must be returned by 11AM of your return date.
We highly recommend reserving one ahead of time due to the limited quantity available, call 407-824-2742 or let your travel expert know and they will be happy to reserve one for you. There may be some availability same day, but we don’t recommend relying on that. When traveling to and from the parks, bus service is available to the parks as well as Disney Springs. Each campsite and cabin does come with its own parking spot for guests drove their personal vehicles.
Campgrounds
Whatever your preferred method of camping is, the odds are that Fort Wilderness can accommodate you. Campsites are set up to accommodate a small tent or even a 45 foot long RV. There are four different types of campsites to choose from when reserving your site. Regardless of how big of a site you have there is a maximum of 10 campers per campsite, however large groups who are traveling together are free to let their travel expert know and we will be sure to note your preference of being near one another on your booking. All campsites are equipped with water, cable and electrical hook ups, however we do highly recommend bringing some extra extension cords if you find yourself camping in a tent. Every campsite also comes with a picnic table and a charcoal grill, so be sure to bring your own charcoal to grill. While not all campsites have a sewer hook up, most of them do that accommodate RV’s and campers. While you may be “roughing it” while camping in a tent there are Comfort Stations throughout the campground for guests to utilize. The Comfort Stations have restrooms, showers and even laundry machines.
Cabins
Camping in a Cabin is our definition of the ideal camping experience. These cabins are secluded and offer a warm and homey feeling, making them the perfect place to call home while on vacation. When booking a Cabin guests are given a Cabin all to themselves that even has its own specific parking spot. Cabins can sleep up to 6 adults with a queen size bed, a double sleeper sofa and a set of twin bunk beds, and yes they’re kid friendly with a small guard rail. Each cabin comes equipped with a kitchenette with a fridge, two burner stove, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and a coffee maker. Limited cooking utensils are also included in the kitchenette. You will even find yourself with your own private deck with a picnic table and charcoal grill. There is a full sized bathroom in each cabin and a personal parking spot.
