There is nothing more modern than a monorail speeding through a resort. Disney’s Contemporary Resort is iconic, modern, convenient and every foodies dream resort that sits just a short walk away from the Magic Kingdom on the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Resort Rooms
The main tower at the Contemporary Resort is truly Incredible, and we’re not just saying this because you will find nods to the movie, The Incredibles inside of these rooms! These rooms have been recently renovated to maximize space with TV’s mounted to the walls, raised beds that allow for guests to store their suitcases underneath, and a couch that turns into a bed. These "Super" Rooms sleep up to 5 and are located in the Tower and offer the choice of a Standard View of the resort, a Lake View of the Seven Seas Lagoon or even the highly sought after Theme Park View. The Garden Wing offers a more calm and relaxed setting away from the hustle and bustle of the main tower. These rooms also sleep up to 5 and offer some beautiful scenic views with the option of a Garden View or a Standard View of the resort grounds.
Transportation
The Contemporary Resort is one of the very few resorts that is truly walking distance to a park. Guests will find a walking path that leads them past Bay Lake Tower and directly to their own personal security entrance to the Magic Kingdom. If you get enough steps in while inside the parks take advantage of the Monorail that goes directly through the resort. The Monorail not only brings guests to the Magic Kingdom, but to The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian and the Ticket and Transportation Center where they can transfer monorails and head to Epcot. For guests heading to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios or Disney Springs buses are readily available at the resort bus stop.
Table Service Dining
The Contemporary Resort has some of the best dining at Walt Disney World, but don’t let that stop you from hopping on the monorail and trying out some other resorts for a meal!
The newest edition to the Contemporary Resort is Steakhouse 71. Steakhouse 71 offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and even allows for guests to mobile order. There’s something for everyone at breakfast from Walt’s Prime Rib Hash to the Seasonal Pancakes that are always a crowd pleaser to the Floridian Eggs Benedict, but don’t forget about their Bottomless Mimosas for only $19. Lunch and Dinner feature a traditional Steakhouse menu, for an appetizer we highly recommend trying the Bacon and Eggs which is a delicious pork belly with smoked cheese grits and an egg.
California Grill boasts one of the best views of Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon. They are currently offering a 50th Anniversary Menu, which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $89 per adult and $39 per child. California Grill is best known for their hand rolled sushi that is currently being offered as an appetizer.
Chef Mickey is a lively character dining experience, with Mickey and his pals. Chef Mickey serves a family style breakfast and dinner. There is no shortage of options when it comes to either meal with breakfast offering eggs, potato and cheese casserole, and so much more.
Quick Service Dining
Contempo Cafe is located right next to Chef Mickeys and even gives guests the opportunity to mobile order right from their room. Contempo Cafe serves breakfast starting at 7AM, lunch and dinner up until 11PM. Dinner and lunch options range from salads to burgers to flatbreads and there are even chicken nuggets and pasta for our younger travelers.
Contemporary Grounds opens at 6am and is a great place to grab a pastry and coffee or espresso to hit the ground running. For non coffee drinkers Contemporary Grounds offers an extensive selection of smoothies.
The Sand Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a pool side drink or snack at the Feature Pool. The Sand Bar serves burgers, hotdogs and salads along with an extensive bar selection that includes the perfect poolside frozen drinks.
Pools
The main feature pool at the Contemporary Resort features a 17 foot tall, 131 foot long water slide. In the main pool area, there are 2 whirlpool spas as well as a water play area for children. Keep in mind if you are traveling January 9, 2023 - April of 2023 this pool will be closed for refurbishments. The Bay Lake Pool is a round leisure pool at the Contemporary. The exterior of the pool is shallow and the center of the pool does get a little bit deeper. The Bay Lake Pool has cabanas that are available to rent for the day. One of our Travel Experts will be more than happy to reserve one for you in advance.
Guests are more than welcome to take advantage of the Contemporary’s sister resort, Bay Lake Towers Pool. Bay Cove Pool is a zero entry pool located at Bay Lake Tower and features a 148 foot long water slide as well as a water play area for the smallest travelers that has erupting geysers. Complementary life jackets and towels are available on the pool deck for guests. The Bay Cove Pool overlooks the beautiful Bay Lake. This is where guests will find daily pool activities led by cast members such as pool parties, games, relay races and trivia.
Recreation
The Contemporary Resort hosts nightly activities for guests. Guests are invited to roast marshmallows at the Contemporary Courtyard Fire Pit from 6PM to 7PM with Movies Under the Stars are held in the Contemporary Courtyard at 8PM on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On the 4th floor of the Contemporary, the Game Station features a large selection of arcade games. The Contemporary also offers guests the opportunity to set sail on Bay Lake and go on a guided catch and release fishing excursion, as well as the ability to rent a motor boat hourly.
Visitors are also invited to take advantage of the activities at Bay Lake Tower. The Community Hall at Bay Lake Tower is open daily from 10AM to 10PM daily. The Community Hall offers plenty of arts and crafts, video games, board games and even movies to watch. Bay Lake Tower also offers some fun activities like putt-putt, bocce ball and corn hole, just head on into the Community Hall and ask to sign out balls, clubs and other equipment.
Fitness
The Olympiad Fitness Center is located at the Contemporary Resort and available for all guests who are 14 years of age and older. The Fitness Center is open 24/7 with a Resort Room Key or MagicBand(+) with lockers available to store personal belongings. The Olympiad Fitness Center features Life Fitness and Cybex equipment such as treadmills, bikes, ellipticals and free weights with weight machines. For guests who prefer running outdoors, there is a jogging trail around Bay Lake Tower that is just short of a mile. The Contemporary Resort also is home to a lakeside volleyball court that guests are welcome to take advantage of while Bay Lake Tower offers a Tennis Court as well as a basketball court, guests are welcome to check out equipment from the Community Hall at Bay Lake Tower.
