Conquering Walt Disney World with a Baby!

Traveling with a baby can seem extremely difficult and a lot of work, but we have good news! It doesn’t have to be! With a little extra planning traveling to Walt Disney World with a baby can be just as easy, if not easier than traveling with big kids!

Making a Resort Room Feel Like Home

Cribs and pack & plays are available free of charge when staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. Let your travel expert know that you would like one and they’ll make sure to get a note added on to your reservation. A pack and play will be brought to your room by housekeeping along with a fitted sheet. We cannot recommend staying at a moderate resort or a deluxe resort enough when traveling with a baby. Moderate resorts have a curtain separating the vanity area from the sleeping area. Behind that curtain there is plenty of room for a crib or pack and play. The curtain does an amazing job at creating a dark space for mid day naps. Deluxe Resorts provide extra space and a balcony that gives you an additional area to hang out for a midday nap! For a baby who is used to sleeping in their own room, a villa or suite is an amazing option that gives you plenty of extra space.

Bring some of the creature comforts that you use at home with you on vacation! If you use a noise machine at home, bring one with you. A slumber pod is also an amazing investment if you find yourself traveling frequently with a baby who needs a completely dark room to sleep.

Strollers

While strollers are available to rent in the park, they are hard plastic and far from comfortable. Traveling with your own stroller is always a great decision because it’s a relaxing, familiar space for your baby. If you find yourself running short on space or flying, renting a stroller from an outside company is an amazing affordable alternative. There are several vendors in the Orlando area that rent all different types of single and double strollers from CityMini’s to Bobs. Most of these vendors also include a rain cover and the option to add on a snack tray with your rental. When packing for your trip don’t forget to bring a D ring or mommy hook, this will allow you to attach cups, popcorn buckets or shopping bags to your stroller. Another must pack item is a stroller fan, we highly recommend one that is rechargeable.

Baby Care Centers

Each park has a Baby Care Center with all the supplies you could possibly need and potentially have forgotten, available to purchase. They also have a room full of changing tables to make diaper changes a breeze, a dark and quiet nursing room, a sink, water dispenser for bottles and almost everything you could think of! Some baby care centers have high chairs and even a room with a TV to occupy the big kids. They’re also a great place to sit and relax in the air conditioning on a hot day to take a little bit of a break from the park.

Can Babies Go On Rides?

Any ride without a height requirement can be ridden by a baby! While yes you will have to hold the baby on your lap and facing outward if there is a lap bar a baby can ride quite a bit! Some rides a baby can even be inside of an infant carrier like a Tula or Ergo.
