Castle Bound Travel Company's Top Tips for Setting Sail with Disney Cruise Line

Whenever you’re preparing for a vacation, there’s always a lot on your mind. Are you remembering to book all of your excursions and onboard activities? Have you packed everything you’ll need? Did you book your hotel for the night before your sailing? Our Top Cruise Tips are here to help you make sure you have everything ready for your next Disney Cruise!

Getting Ready for Your Cruise

Do you ever have the feeling that you’re forgetting something? There is so much to remember to bring with you in required documents alone, never mind everything else that you need or want! To get onboard the ship, all guests will need to have their government-issued and valid passport or other acceptable proof of citizenship documents. A few weeks prior to your cruise, luggage tags will arrive for each guest via mail. These will need to be attached to your luggage when you arrive at the terminal.

We also highly recommend bringing:

  • A reusable water bottle for each guest

  • Each guest over the age of 21 can bring 2 bottles of wine or a 6-pack of beer in their carry-on

  • Something for characters to sign autographs on, like a book, mat, or even ornaments, along with whatever you would like them to sign with

  • Towel bands to secure your beach towel on the windy pool decks

  • Magnetic hooks to maximize storage in your stateroom

  • Dramamine or sea bands for guests who are prone to motion sickness and any medications that you may need while onboard

  • Pack bathing suits and anything you might need the first few hours of your sailing in a carry-on bag so that you can swim before your luggage arrives in your stateroom

While you can prepay your gratuities prior to your trip, we highly recommend bringing some cash to tip throughout your sailing.

Arrival

We highly recommend arriving the day before your sailing if you are flying in, especially if you are taking a connecting flight. All guests have to be onboard by mid-afternoon on arrival day. Disney Cruise Line offers transportation from select hotels in the port area, and your travel agent will be more than happy to help you set that up. Once you arrive at the port, hop on your navigator app, switch over to the ship's Wi-Fi, and check out the available onboard activities and excursions. We’ve had some incredible luck scoring a last-minute Palo brunch, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, The Royal Gathering, and so much more.

Onboard

Disney Cruise Line’s Oceaneer Club is closed to adults for the majority of the sailing. We highly recommend checking it out with your kiddos to get them acclimated upon arrival during the open house. Even if you aren’t sailing with kids, this is the perfect time for adults to act like a kid and check out all of the fun things in the Oceaneer Club. During the Open House, you can also check out the spa, gym, and other areas of the ship. We highly recommend enjoying all of the incredible lounges onboard. Don’t forget that you can even opt to have a character printed onto your coffee at select locations onboard.
