Disney’s Animal Kingdom is officially celebrating its 25th Anniversary this spring! On Earth Day, April 22,1998, Animal Kingdom opened its gates to guests for the first time making this the 25th Anniversary of the park! Here are some ways that you can celebrate in the park this month!
Leading up to the celebration of Disney’s Animal Kingdom's 25th Anniversary there have been quite a few exciting character sightings in Animal Kingdom! This week we were lucky enough to see some unusual characters during a midday Floatilla throughout the park! On a regular park day, guests will see Scrooge McDuck, Mickey & Pals and even Meeko, but we were surprised to see Koda and Kenai from the movie "Brother Bear" this past weekend! There is no telling what exact time they will be floating through the Discovery River, so we recommend hanging out around the river or enjoying Nomad’s Lounge at an outdoor table for a prime viewing spot. Tinkerbell and Fawn were also out this weekend leading up to the 25th Anniversary greeting guests on Discovery Island and a long overdue character meet and greet will be beginning on April 22 - where Moana will be making her debut at Animal Kingdom to greet her fellow voyagers.
Say cheese and take advantage of the limited time, "Earth Month" and "25th Anniversary" exclusive photo opportunities throughout Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In the spirit of Earth Month, guests can take pictures with special props that have been completely made out of recycled materials like cast member costumes and patches. There will also be special magic shots where you’ll never know who just might make an appearance in your photos.
After working up an appetite in the park, enjoy a "Colossal Elephant" (Cinnamon) Roll or a 25th Anniversary "Alive with Magic" Cupcake that are available throughout the park. If you happen to have a reservation at Tiffins, there is an exclusive dessert platter available for the celebration. If you’ll be dining with Donald and his pals at Tusker House, enjoy the 25th Anniversary tarte. If you don’t have a dining reservation just yet, let your travel expert know and they will be more than happy to keep an eye out for last minute openings.
Last but not least we cannot forget about all of the beautiful limited edition merchandise that will be available on the 22nd of April ONLY. Kevin from the movie Up! is making an appearance on the 25th Anniversary Spirit Jersey and for our Loungefly lovers, there will be a limited edition Loungefly mini backpack!
Pin Collectors will love the limited edition Commemorative Earth Month pin (keep in mind they only make so many of these pins so they may sell out quickly)! There will also be a bucket hat, tumblers and several shirts to choose from. If you’re a merchandise collector we highly recommend getting to Animal Kingdom EARLY on Saturday!
